Our last day in Tokyo was just as busy as days 1 & 2. We started this day with a delicious ramen lunch. The concierge at the Shinjuku Prince Hotel made an excellent recommendation for a restaurant in our neighborhood.
When we arrived, there was a waiting line outside the door. Soon, a Japanese man walked out of the restaurant, cleared the no-entry sign and the walked into the middle of the road. He then proceeded to yell at the top of his lungs (in Japanese). We guess that this was "It's Open!". We all filed in and placed our orders at a vending machine. Of course, there was no English, but a good looking photo..... of this delicious ramen!
As you can see behind Joe, the restaurant is very tiny - just a rail to sit and eat at. The people standing against the wall are waiting for a spot. It was delicious!
From there, we took the subway to Harajuku, an area known for its shops. It was Sunday and the city was packed! We didn't stay long here, as we were both looking forward to our next stop!
Yebisu Brewery! Here we tasted some delightful Japanese beer.
But then, onward again to our next stop.
Can you guess where Joe let me go?!?
Yes!!! It was our second trip to Tokyo and Joe said we could go to Tokyo Disney!!!!!
I thought I was being a nice wife, when I suggested that we go in the afternoon and purchase the Starlight Passport (after 3pm and a discounted rate). He wouldn't have to spend the whole day with me gushing about Mickey. Unfortunately, when we walked under the entrance and into the park area we heard over the PA system the worst possible message:
"Due to the high number of guests in Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, we are suspending ticket sales until 5pm."
AAAAHHH! It was only 3pm! Do I make Joe wait in line for 2 hours? We already spend 45 minutes on trains trying to get here..... Joe was the husband of the year and we got in line!
And it's getting near sunset and we're still waiting......
But at 5:15 the line had moved enough that I could see the ticket counter!! We were going to get in!
Supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus! We were finally in Tokyo Disneyland!
Of course, I was about to be severely overwhelmed. Tokyo Disney wasn't joking around when they said there was a high volume of patrons.... I have never seen an amusement park so jam-packed! As we navigated our way through the World Bazaar, I began to feel regret for making Joe wait so long in line and then come to this crazy, overcrowded park. Thank goodness Joe is so great, he made me feel better and we decided to go with what I really wanted to see at Tokyo Disneyland -- the electric light parade! So I held us a spot by the castle and Joe went to find us some dinner.
The Dream Lights Electrical Light Parade really was great. It did not disappoint and I'm so glad I got to go and hear some of my favorite Disney songs not only in English, but Japanese!
My favorite, of course!
We did get to go on Mickey's Philharmagic and Star Tours. But by that time it was nearly park closing time. We headed back into downtown Tokyo to our hotel and to sleep before our 7am flight the next day!
